iPhone app "experience" blogging
In my iPhone app usability project, I'm using a diary study to follow user experiences. I've introduced "experience blogging" for users to share screenshots, creating an engaging live stream of app moments.
A/B testing in the wild
My colleague Aaron and I noticed A/B testing on Salesforce.com, as we saw different versions of their free trial sign-up button. It's fun to spot A/B testing in the wild, and I'm curious to see more examples from others.
And the trophy goes to...the user?
Running a RITE usability study for an iPhone app has its challenges, especially in user recruitment. Saluting a dedicated user who tried to attend despite the Bay Bridge closure, showing incredible persistence and commitment.
I'm not Batman
I recently spent a week testing a top-secret product indoors and missed out on beautiful weather. It made me question the windowless UX lab environment and wonder if a more open workspace could improve product testing and overall happiness.
Surveys done wrong
I'm a feedback enthusiast who called AT&T for voicemail help. Although "Marilyn" was nice, she couldn't fix my issue. The post-call survey question was biased and misleading, highlighting the difficulty in creating effective surveys.
Delight in design
I argue that usability isn't just about functionality. In today's world, we can design delightful UIs with broader purposes without sacrificing effectiveness. Let's redefine usability, break stereotypes, and show that it's far from boring and full of creative potential.
Measuring impact in Philanthropy
I've been exploring impact measurement in international development and discussed the idea of creating a "Yelp" for development to crowdsource ratings. I'm seeking a partner to test our UME methodology and address questions like who's an end user and how to scale impact measurement.
Lackluster Live Chat
As a Patagonia fan, I'm disappointed by their online chat support. The experience is slow and unhelpful. Another chat experience with Keynote.com was aggressive. Customer service is vital; companies shouldn't lose customers due to poor support.
Cafe Culture
In today's digital age, cafes face challenges with Wi-Fi hogs who occupy seats without contributing much. While I understand their concerns, I believe we should work towards creating a mutually beneficial relationship between cafes and laptop users, embracing the growing remote work culture and fostering a respectful, adaptable community that benefits everyone involved, without resorting to extreme measures.
Google Gives in on Gmail
At last, Google removed Gmail's "On Behalf of..." message, something I suggested 2 years ago. As they target the business market, I'm optimistic we'll see more user-friendly improvements.
Philosophy of fun
I embrace fun as a core work philosophy, believing it's essential for motivation. Aiming for enjoyable experiences for users, clients, and my team, I advocate for a balance where everyone benefits from the joy of the process. Let's make work fun for all!
Designing for Hope
Working with Architecture for Humanity on FIFA's Football for Hope, I realized the design process faces many hurdles. Including end user feedback is crucial to create meaningful, lasting solutions in community development projects.
