Designing for Today and Tomorrow
Designing for scale is vital for a product's success. To save time and effort, designers should develop a strong conceptual model, leave room in the framework for future content, consider edge cases, and design for the probable. Being prepared for scalability helps products adapt and evolve for the future.
How I Fell in Love with Apple (Again)
I bought a white iPhone 4s two years ago, my first expensive phone. I lost it at a club, so I went back to my old 3GS until my brother gave me his iPhone 4. I didn't like iOS7 at first, but after seeing it on a retina display, I fell in love. I pre-ordered the colorful iPhone 5c and **adore it**. ❤️
Participating in Research: It's Not (Just) About the Money
I used to do research studies for extra cash and free products. Now as a researcher, I appreciate participants but also fear being taken advantage of. Money was my main motivation, but I also enjoyed being first to see new products, making things better, and learning about the research process.

Creating a Mobile Usability Testing Kit
Demand for real-world usability testing of mobile apps is growing. Solutions for challenges include using necklace-mounted GoPros, dividing sessions into walking and sitting parts, using iPads for note-taking, and obtaining permissions from store owners to ensure privacy.
User-Friendly Writings
The internet has revolutionized content sharing, but captivating an audience requires more than just publishing thoughts. To foster reader engagement, consider these strategies: maintain concise paragraphs, utilize relevant visuals, incorporate relatable examples, present information succinctly, and ensure easy access to relevant links.
To Virtual and Beyond!!! Design Principles for Immersive Experiences.
Design industry faces rapid tech changes, but designers can adapt with strategies like keeping users first, designing for context, simplicity, and testing & iterating. With immersive experiences like VR and AR, these principles prepare us for innovative design challenges in the future.
Why Healthcare Needs Designers
As someone new to design, I worked in healthcare and realized designers are crucial in this field. Reasons include understanding end users, bringing fresh perspectives, and taking risks. However, healthcare isn't seen as "sexy" for designers, lacks in-field mentors, and is risk-averse. Collaborating is key to bridge the gap.
Architecting Designs Without Lorem Ipsum
Designing interfaces without considering the content is like building a house without knowing who will live there. Realistic content is crucial for determining how to highlight, support, and fit content together. Lorem ipsum is too vague. Designers can keep concepts loose and low-fidelity while stressing that content is example content. Content is necessary for creating meaningful interfaces.
Using Science to Explain Design
Recent studies are shedding light on the scientific explanations behind design rules, from the effect of color on creativity to the efficiency boost of being able to see the outdoors. These findings allow designers to defend their choices with more validity and overlap between art and science could lead to the creation of even more beautiful and useful designs.
Getting the Right Answer
User testing relies on effective questioning to gather data. Avoid leading questions or influencing users with adjectives. Instead, use neutral, open-ended questions, followed by "Tell me more" to encourage detailed responses and uncover valuable insights.
