EchoUser is a growing full-service User Experience research & design firm based in San Francisco, CA, with satellite offices in Boulder, CO, and Washington, DC. We’re looking for full-time UX Engineers in San Francisco to help our great clients, focused on web application development.
We pride ourselves on researching and designing for a wide variety of complex products and domains. Whether it’s enterprise design (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), massive user populations (e.g., Google), multi-faceted systems (e.g., BART - Bay Area Rapid Transit), different experiences (e.g., Gooru, and the ‘learning experience’), or subtle real-life experiential challenges (e.g., bagels, coffee, asteroids, etc.), we like all complexity (and destroying it!).
About the role
Your primary role would be to help us build web applications for our research & design projects. Some from scratch. Some on top of client technology. The basic web dev skills are necessary; e.g., js, jquery, css, etc. Broad web application ability is desired (CMS, mobile, database-driven, etc.). Across our clients we see a wide variety of technology. The common theme is application level development, not static web sites (although that could occur).
You’d be expected to have a heavy appreciation for design, but not be a designer. Perhaps the best ‘design’ skill we’d be looking for is the ability to communicate effectively with full-time researchers and designers. And then express their work in the engineering. Then communicating that to client teams. There is a lot of give and take when working on large client front end projects (as well as with fast moving startups).
You’d also be the second of your kind in our firm. We have worked with many development firms in the past, as well as developers inside client companies. But you’d be among first in-house EchoUser engineers. This will almost certainly be a role of many hats as you contribute to projects, lead projects, educate, and essentially operate as a mini-startup within our company. There is a fair amount of potential for this role to take on any number of activities, both internal and external.
Salary negotiable to level.
