Analytic App Builder
Hyperion was developing a complex new analytic application builder combining several quintessential Hyperion technologies. Early builds exposed some tricky usability questions arising from the complex undertaking. Hyperion wanted to know the extent of the issues and how the product could be improved. There was some skepticism that that the issues could be resolved.
Our Approach
We conducted three iterative usability tests across click-through prototypes and live code. The goal was to make rapid changes, but also allow large-scale initiatives where appropriate. Therefore, we went with 1 month iterative cycles.
We also heavily involved the project team in iteration debriefs so that they were always part of the design process.
Delivering Value
Usability across successive rounds of testing improved significantly.
Initial skepticism was quickly overcome. The team became very motivated by the process after they were convinced by some some early results that we would be able to provide the solutions they were hoping for.
Collaboration between all parties led to some truly unexpected innovative design solutions that greatly improved overall user experience.
