GraphDive

Forming a research-based persona to serve as a reference point and inform future design decisions.

Challenge

At the time when GraphDive approached us, it was developing a new web platform that would transform data into useful demographic-based marketing insights for businesses. They requested EchoUser to design the product from start to finish, while working closely and collaboratively with their product and engineering teams.

Approach

User Research

To kick things off, we conducted user research with target customers and used our findings to inform the creation of a persona, Todd. Todd was strategically designed to address both business and user needs, and served as a reference point for future decision-making over the duration of the engagement. Subsequently, we generated and prioritized key use cases according to Todd’s goals and needs.

Interaction Design

In a matter of weeks, we moved through multiple stages of design. We started with high-level concepts and narrowed them down based on the UX and technical requirements. Then we created medium fidelity wireframes and ran a quick UX study with an interactive prototype. As a result, the team could make confident and informed decisions about the product’s design and direction.

Visual Design

Our visual design work began with creating a word map and moodboard to set the overall tone and pull together the most important elements of the design. Next, we generated mock-ups of several screen variations that had different styles. After closing in on direction, we applied the style we created to final mock-ups and ultimately delivered a full set of screens that detailed key interactive and visual elements.

Impact

Our work proved to be successful in not only defining a new product experience, but also guiding the GraphDive team through each stage of the design process. EchoUser is excited to see how this process helps GraphDive continue product development in the future.
